Not Ashamed

I'm sure that most of the members of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender community are aware of what this flag symbolizes. For some, it is the freedom of love, identity, and hope for the future. The dream of partners lawfully being able to be seen as a true couple under the eyes of the constitution and society. Many people have been tortured through banishment from their family, and religious persecution. How can such evil be permitted?-many christians ask this question. They state that homosexual behavior is an outrage and an unforgivable sin. Others are more loose about the subject. I've heard it all: it's not natural, it's a choice. it's a phase. it's not really you. you'll grow out of it. Many people have to closet their personal life because they fear losing their job, reputation, and family. This my friend is the outrage, not what goes on in the privacy of one's house behind closed doors. Not who we love, or choose to be with. The fact that thousands of people commit suicide everyday because everyday of their life is a living hell for the sole fact that they are open and true to themselves. The outrageous number of hate crimes publicized everyday by the media because some ignorant person fears what they do not understand, or would even consider to comprehend. The one thing that is truly comical to me is that heterosexuals get so much credit and get put up on a mantle because that is the right relationship to have, that is a true companionship. Forget all of the adultery and abuse that is commited by these people. Just stereotype it on the homosexuals. That is what is easier for people correct? AIDS, fag, all words associated with homosexuals, how could anybody be so ignorant? One thing I leave people to consider.... when you look at your loved one at night, the person who you would give your life for, think for just one second that somebody told you that your love for them wasn't real... that it wasn't looked upon as equal and just... you are immoral and grotesque for having such emotions.... . Don't worry you can wake up from the nightmare now. The LGBT community has to deal with this. We wouldn't wish it on anybody.
I didn't choose this lifestyle, I didn't choose who I'm attracted to, but I did choose to come out and not be afraid to admit to myself and society that I am proud of who I am, and I am not ashamed.
